Pamela Frankel Fiedler“The one thing artists must possess above all other qualities is immense courage.”
– Jean Rouch

Nothing could be truer than this statement when defining the plight of figurative artists who depict nudes. No other art genre is judged so harshly, whether it is evaluated on technical expertise or censored by current social standards.

Artists who strive to break the barrier of bias against nude imagery know that a certain portion of their audience is comprised of women and men who find it difficult to accept their own sensuality. The Nude challenges an often reluctant viewing audience to relate to the artwork, which in turn, can elicit myriad responses and shock, entrancement, seduction, guilt.

I strongly believe that The Nude, at its best, is sensuous, provocative and devoid of false modesty. Using a monochromatic palette, unassuming backgrounds and bold cropping my figurative work strives to move beyond mere depiction of physical beauty; deliberately portraying the frequently secreted intimacies of human expression. My intention is to create fine art nudes that are unapologetic for their sensuality and to challenge the viewer to be immensely courageous and accepting.
