Happy Creative New Year!

Yes, we all made it into 2019 and hopefully with a slash of color! I hope you had a great holiday season and are feeling ready to make things happen in 2019.

Artisan is committed to make our creative centers — Art Spot, Artisan’s instructional spaces in both the Santa Fe and Albuquerque store — more happening, and geared to what you are interested in learning. We are planning new art events, workshops, demos, book signings and some interesting surprises that will invigorate your art energy in the upcoming year.

  • Artisan will be part of the International Pastel Association Convention — featuring 36 booths of pastel manufacturers — at the Hotel Albuquerque this coming June 6th through 8th (with free admission to vendor floor).
  • We just signed another contract at Buffalo Thunder for the ninth biennial Artisan Materials Expo, on September 24th through 27th, 2020. So mark those dates on your calendar!

You want to know what kind of year this is going to be for you? Well…it’s going to be the one you make it. I strongly believe we create our worlds and are always in control of how we react. We may not have control over what is going on all around us, but we choose how we are going to respond to it. We are all part of the creative community and part of finding the solutions that the world needs so desperately. Your creativity is constantly adding to the whole that inspires those around you to think creatively and positively to make this world a better place…it matters!

Thank you for keeping our doors open at Artisan to serve the creative community, and let’s all join together to make this the best year of our lives (it’s the only one we have to create) Rock onward and upward!

Namaste,
Ron

I became a human canvas for this month’s Artist of the Month video. We took a trip to downtown Santa Fe to visit with Kristina Huckabee Tafoya, owner of “Tina’s Ink”. Check out the video below, and see what a great time we had!

Stuff Around The Store

Cool Item

Of The Month

Artisan carries a lot of unique and/or one of a kind items. Here is one you might find interesting.

Holbein Acrylic Ink:
Re-Engineered!

“Acrylic that flows like water” … is an appropriate and accurate description for Holbein’s newest re-engineered color line, Holbein Acrylic Ink in 30ml & 100ml squeeze bottle formats.

Holbein began revising and re-engineering their Acrylic Family of Products in 2011 in order to engage newly developed pigments & manufacturing techniques and to respond to new painting applications & methods being embraced by contemporary artists around the world.

After three years of focused research, testing and development, Holbein is pleased to introduce their 50 color, 30ml Artist Acrylic Ink Line.  Holbein Acrylic Ink (HAI) will replace the very popular Holbein “Aeroflash” Acrylic Ink and Drawing Ink lines.

All 50 colors in Holbein Acrylic Ink (HAI) maintain the same pigment strength as found in Holbein Heavy Body Acrylic and Holbein Fluid Acrylic, but with a much lower viscosity.  HAI can be used directly for bold, brilliant color when used with a brush, airbrush, dip pen, technical pen or refillable marker. HAI can also be used to achieve the subtle characteristics, washes and tones of Watercolor painting. HAI is superb as an under paint, and is excellent for calligraphy, lettering and stamping.

Holbein Acrylic Ink colors are fully intermixable and offer excellent lightfast ratings. HAI will mix seamlessly with all water media including the entire Holbein Acrylic Family of products including Heavy Body Acrylic, Fluid Acrylic, Matte “Mat” Acrylic, Colored Gesso, Acrylic Mediums and Acryla Designers Gouache.

Holbein has developed refillable Markers to further support the tools available for use with their Acrylic Ink line. Easy to use, fill and refill, Holbein empty markers offer four sizes allowing for fine line detail to wide applications.

Available at Artisan’s Santa Fe store only.
