Artist’s Bio
Jaque Fragua is an acclaimed multi-media artist from New Mexico. From his cultural background, he has developed a yearning for creativity and for the intrinsic process that is Art. Experimenting with various mediums, such as aerosol, found-objects, earthworks, poetry, & music, messages of civil unrest, social justice, emotional introspection, and personal healing have heartened his unique perspective on life through art. Fragua has studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts, and in turn, has taught many community-based workshops, such as mural projects/public-art studies, and studio classes for figure drawing & painting. Fragua has worked with fine establishments such as Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, Institute of American Indian Arts, & Museum of Indian Arts & Culture to produce progressive/innovative exhibits concerning the plight of Native America.

Jaque Fragua is instrumental in creating The Hour Has Arrived, a public art component for Santa Fe Indian Market(SWAIA), August 13-19. This new element takes a bold youthful direction focusing on new mediums.  Public Art enriches communities it appears in with values sharing, dialog, social awareness and incentive. Public Art or “street art” has gained a following beyond any label. From large corporate enthusiasts to the poorest passer-byes, this art-form can be appreciated by all. The Hour Has Arrived will showcase public installations by prolific forerunners in this new modality for Native American artists. Featured artists include El Mac (Phoenix), Ernesto Yerena (Phoenix), Hoka Skenandore (Oneida/Oglala Lakota/Luiseno), Jaque Fragua (Jemez Pueblo), KOFIE (Los Angeles), Rose B. Simpson (Santa Clara Pueblo), Watermelon7 (Isleta Pueblo), Yatika Starr Fields (Cherokee/Creek/Osage), & SABA (Four Corners). Find out more at http://n8vpa.com/home the Hour has Arrived.
